Thanks guys.. Any chance I have a broken 1 2 accumulator spring? Don;t know what that is or where it is located on the tranny but someone just messaged me saying that might be the problem.

Yes. You won't be able to hear anything with a broken drum. It leaks fluid, and won't allow forward gear engagement. The fact that you were able to do this momentarily when it is cold supports my theory because at the cold point, the fluid is thicker, and won't escape as quickly. Watch this.

There are other possibilities too, but because it was so sudden, I still lean to the drum. You could have burnt or highly contaminated clutches, the clutch splines could be stripped out (or I suppose the hub could be). Also could be a broken snap ring groove. No matter what, it's gotta come out.
I really think you're spinning your wheels.... I'd give it to someone or buy a known good, used trans. Don't recall your year.... it's been so long. But 99-03 play nice.... 97 and 98 are their own animals.
