Good, Yea sucks evacuating fluid without a drain plug. I'm not sure the 2000 has one ? Glad to see you didn't go through that mess lol.

So, you have to fix that OD switch then? Personally, I'm not sure how that's wired without looking at a diagram.

I watched the first minute of this and it seems to about the same issues your having, -

Yes, thanks for posting that. I'm very hopeful its the column wires. Thats what a lot of searching has led me to, although I haven't found any that have my EXACT situation. This video seems to be awfully similar to my issue. I'll pull the column covers off tomorrow and check it out. I'm also worried that I may have caused major damage to the trans driving it home yesterday while it was failing.

There are many types of Automatic Transmission Fluid (Mercon V, Mercon C, Mercon SP, etc.) using wrong type of fluid will cause internal damage.

I think your engine is overheating which will also cause shifting issue because only 4 of the cylinders are firing. A faulty tranny will not cause your engine to shutdown. If

I don't think the engine is overheating. The temp gauge reads normal, no burnt coolant smell, no spilled coolant or steam/smoke etc. Definitely transmission acting up, you can totally smell hot trans fluid when the problem is happening.

So I pulled the column cover and found one of the wires rubbed raw like I expected to. I taped that back up and then the 29 fuse didn't blow after that, but I still could not get my overdrive light come on when hitting the button. I took the truck for a run around the block and it was driving fine in "drive" but only using 1st and 2nd gears, when it would try to hit 3rd, it just revs up like its slipping. I limped it to a local trans shop using the 1 and 2 gears on the column and they are saying it needs a whole trans replaced. Does anyone think it still could be electrical, or would you tend to agree that this trans is shot. Its just very strange that I get it and it blows up within 3 days especially since I put at least 150 miles on it and it worked flawlessly.

Can't speak on the electrical. But figured it's worth mentioning your trans fluid should be checked with the truck running in park. Just FYI. Hope ya get er fixed up.

If it just revs in 3rd the overdrive clutches are shot. You need a rebuild.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation. Whats the likelihood that this started out as an electrical problem and I blew the trans trying to get it home? I would hate to throw a new trans in it and have the same issues. Keep in mind that it didn't do the revving when trying to hit third when I first began to have the problems. It would drive perfectly fine and then just start jerking and hesitating like a really really bad misfire feels.
