Today I went out shooting and off roading and my truck was running great. I put it in reverse and backed up to turn around and no forward gear will work at all but reverse does work. It's an 03 SCREW 5.4 the trannys gotta be out right.!

 

That's be my guess. How the fluid? Burnt? Look like there's metal In there?

 

check the fluid first. It may also be the solenoid pack has **** the bed.

 

Yep, sol. Time to sell it and buy a Geo or somethin...

 

What are your opinions on rebuild vs new tranny. And what can I do to beef up or "bullet proof" the tranny? And any body have a ball park price range?

 

I paid 2100 hundred and he said my tranny is now bullet proof and capable of up to 500hp. He put in a shift kit and I'm not sure what else but he said the 4r70w is a very good tranny as soon as you put some money into it. Sorry to hear about your truck how many miles have you put on her before she went out?

That sucks I know you just got the truck. Hopefully you get this taken care of and have no more issues.

 

That sucks man. My tranny is still going strong at 130,000, im not extremely hard on my vehicle and I get tranny flushes every 10,000 miles, hopefully thatll pay off in the long run.

Totaled your old truck and now your tranny goes out, bad year for you my friend.

 

Yeah I'm pretty bummed. Never had good luck with any of my toys. Last year I bought a 2001 rmk 800 with an 03 triple engine that is all modded out. It has a 162 in track. Blew up third ride last year. I'm rebuilding it now. It needed 2 cylinders and one piston. Paid 3500 for the sled and now 1800 for all the parts.

Should I get it done by my ford dealership?? Or some where else?
