Default Tranny problem?

I have a 99 f150 5.4 and I'm wondering if my problem is a transmission problem or something else. When I put my truck in reverse it is fine. But once I put it into drive I have to rev my truck up for it to more or less "catch" and start driving. The problem has recently got worse where it slips out of gear while driving and at stop signs then I have to rev it up again and it will finally catch and go into gear and drive. If I rev it up too much it will jerk the whole truck making the tires squeal. I wanna kno if anyone knows anything about this problem.

Default Trans.

My first inclination would be your transmission going out. Especially with it slipping out of gear.

Sounds like the transmission is about to bite the bullet.
You may want to try some Lucas transmission additive, I used that in an old transmission and it ran like new again. That be some jam up stuff now, ya he-ya? Everyone I know says Lucas is the best, so don't let the auto parts guy try to switch you to another brand. I would bet it will give you a lot more time before you have to replace the trans.

ya lucas is the way to go!! the best thing u could do besides a trans rebuild is drain the fluid or get it flushed and the trans filter replaced ans add fresh atf and the last 2 quarts fill with lucas trans fix and u might be good to go!! it worked on my 02 f150
