Default Torque Management

Has anyone disabled their torque management on their truck? I have heard it changes it quite a bit for some other vehicles.

Yes I have. I have it removed in custom tuning. It will make the truck accel faster and give it better mileage. But if you are using a stock converter they will start to balloon real quick and start to slip. It is has only been recommended to me because the fact is I have a built 4R100

Could you drop in an upgraded torque converter and not have to worry about shortening the life of the tc?

You could but, there is no point because then the internals of the trans will start to wear especially if any towing is done. i was told to revert back to a different program for towing to help the life of my trans while towing. Hauling 8k on highway with my daily tune trans temps reached 215-230 while going 70. Switch back to my tow tune and they dropped down to 160-170.

What kind of tuner are you using, and with custom tunes? Thanks for the info!

Recently I went back to my SCT livewire. Tuning myself using a a wibeband on a dyno. I may order a new tune form PHP or 5 Star tuning.
