What makes you think your tc is going bad? It could be a bad stator, and depending on your mileage you may need a rebuild, which should always contain a new tc or a rebuilt one.

Before you go to the trouble of replacing the TC check the MAF sensor. When it goes on the fritz it causes all kinds of slams and bangs as if you're running over railroad ties.

So its only doing it in overdrive? Check engine light on? Could be a $25 coil pack bad on one of the cylinders. One bad coil/cop can make the truck shake and shutter especially in overdrive at low rpms.
