Question Tire size.

Hey guys, just bought a '97 f150 and wanted to know what the largest tire i can fit on a stock 4x4 XL package truck without any mods and very minimal to no rubbing, i will be putting new wheels on when i do the new tires to so wheel size is not a problem but would like to be around 15-16 inch wheels. any help will be appreciated, thanks!

I got a '98 XL 4WD stock suspension with 265/75R16 which equates to about a 31x10.50 and still have plenty of room to go up in size. Factory size for mine was a 235 something, looked goofy to me with tires that small.

17's are the smallest rims you can fit on our trucks without grinding the calipers.so ive been told. if it was me id crank the torsion bars a little and put a 3in block in the back and go with 33/12.5/17's blocks are cheap. and easy

No 16s are the smallest wheels we can run.

The offroad/FX4 packages came with 17'' wheels. All the other models came with 16'', besides HD, and KR (I think).

I know that on a 17'' wheel I would not go any larger than a 285/70/17. I think that tire is 32.7'' in overall diameter. I would think with a tiny torsion crank you could fit a 33x1250x17 on it, but I am not positive on that. I know if you crank them the whole way you would be able to though.
