Default Tire selection

Howdy all, I'm a new member with a lot to learn using this forum. Recently purchased a 2002 F150 King Ranch with 138K miles and a bad engine. Body and interior have been well taken care of and in great shape. Currently replacing the engine with a Powertrain remfg. engine. Other than towing a small fishing boat this unit won't be used much for hauling, no mudding and very little if any off road travel (except maybe to a remote fishing hole). Tires on the truck need to be changed and I am looking for suggestions and recommendations on tires. #1 priority is comfort smooth ride, #2 noise, #3 mileage. Current tires are P275/60R17 as listed on door sticker.

JMO but from what you describe I would suggest a quality all terrain tire in the current size you mention.

Your tire choices in that size appear to be pretty limited. I'd suggest moving to a 265/70-17 which opens up your options tremendously (and is the stock tire on the 4x4 trucks).

Unless your "remote fishing hole" is up a logging road, it sounds like a highway-focused tire is going to be more to your liking than an all-terrain tire. I'd suggest grabbing your favorite beverage and hitting Tire Rack to narrow down some choices. Alternately, give them a call and ask for recommendations. The couple times I've done that, they've been pretty helpful.

P.S. I like my local Discount Tire as well. All my tires over the last seven years have come from them save one set they didn't carry.

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT tires on my truck in the stock size (256/70-17) and I am a huge fan. They are fairly quiet ride smooth. They're made in the U.S. too.
