Default Tip size?

I'm getting a dual exhaust run tomorrow and I was wondering if tip size has any effect on sound. I was thinking 4x18 inch tips but I wasn't sure

I think someone told me it does not get louder but it makes a deeper noise. Not 100% sure though.

What kind of exhaust are you doing? What mufflers? What size pipe?

I had a cat back system with just my stock tailpipe, and when I put my 5" stainless tip, I could tell it made a deeper throaty sound than without it! Doesn't make it louder just changes up the tone

I already have a knockoff Flowmaster super 10. I just had a single little rundown right behind the rear axle and I'm gonna have a y pipe with two pipes run 45 degrees. As for pipe size, I am not sure
