Timing Schematic for F150 5.4L 2v
Hello. I need help really bad. So, I just replaced the head gasket and when I put everything back, my timing is off. I have both the Hanes and Chilton books, but both don't specifically state the timing for a 2002 5.4L, SOHC, 2 valve engine. It has 5.4L 2V (1997 thru 1999) and 5.4L 4V (2000 thru 2004). Mine is 2002 2 valve. Why won't these books have that? Or am I looking at the wrong place.
Anyway, I would truly appreciate it if someone can post a schematic or a picture of how the sprocket and cam shaft should be aligned.
On a slightly different issue, does anyone ever have a problem with the driver side cam shaft "walking"? The sprocket does not have a keyway or a bolt that holds down the cam shaft.

Not too sure what you mean by "timing schematic". If your timing is off, you are off a tooth on your timing chain.... only way to fix it is tear it back apart.
To time these, you set the crank at 11 o'clock... best to do it with a tool. Then you just put the black chain links on the mark on mark on the crank sprocket, and then the links on the correct marks for the cam sprockets - drivers side is "L", passenger is "R".
