Default Throttle body

I am wanting to clean out my throttle body but I don't know if I need to replace the gaskets.

Cleaning the throttle body highly recommended. Why you think you need gaskets? If is has a rough idle that could be it, but as long as it idles o.k. then you are good to go.

it wants to shut off when I use the brakes (sometimes mainly after high performance driving)

Well, I don't if the throttle body would be the issue, but a good place to start. I worked on a Chevy that had the same issue and his throttle body was caked. Go ahead and clean it out, then while the truck is at idle take some of the carb cleaner and spray the throttle body if you here any major change in the idle then you may have a leak in the gasket (vacuum leak)

Why do you need to take it off? Take the air tube off, and and look and see if its dirty. I know mine had never been cleaned, and it wasnt that bad. I cleaned inside and out, I opened the flap and made sure it all was cleaned. Fords are not near as bad as chevys. My LS1 camaro, had the caked on gunk that texasedition said. After cleaning what very little was on my TB, I found it ran a little better. Also clean the maf too.

Oh ya. Buy some MAF cleaner. Worth every cent. Just spray you MAF to get all that junk off of it especially if you a k&n type filter.
