Default Third brake light problems

My third brake light sockets seem to be "melted". Has anybody else had this issue? Water has gotten into the housing and ive had to replace bulbs many times.

Sounds like you need a new plug or the problem will not stop. Also look into sealing it back up to keep the water out

+1 - AND, replace that 912 bulb with a 194 or 168-based LED, which generates practically no heat. In Atlanta traffic, you spend more time on the brake than gas, so reducing the heat will save that new connector that you'll need (probably 25 cents from a junkyard!).

Don't want to do that here. Too many distracted drivers (texters, iPads, and Pandora surfers) that follow too close anyway. Without something to wake them up (3rd Brake Light, something blinking, or ignition coil voltage in their seat), they'll have my trailer hitch ball where their radiator used to be. A cheap hyper white or red LED in that spot (if it doesn't light up, reverse it, since polarity counts with LEDs) does the trick.
