I dropped off my tires with that guy tonight. He's a big Ford fan too. All Snap On tire stuff... lol. He was telling me the reason I was struggling is the deep dish on the wheels. I never really thought about that - but it makes total sense.
2 cent note about decent big tire balance
I used to deal with a whole lot of big wheels and tires, deep dish etc.
One of the tricks I used to use
Go ahead and balance them on MAG (weights one inside only then tape-a-weights in the middle)
Then check them on Dynamic (weights on both sides)
If off on dynamic after the MAG setting balance, I'd pull the tape-a weights back off and start over to get them both correct
So, even though you can't balance them dynamically, you check them and get them the best you can
I recall them using a dynamic balance on those monster 4X4 tires as well. They could usually them good enough that way. Pretty sure that was the name they used.
I've done "bead balancing" on truck tires before. It works. I have a chart on my computer at home that shows how many ounces of beads to use based on the tire size.
This was a PITA to depin. The other wire started to lose its sheathing while I was working on it, so I pulled it too. Heat shrink, and a little Super 33 divider inside.... I think it'll hold up alright.
BTW, it's a knock sensor.
EDIT: It was seven years ago today that I drug this home to put a new 5.4 3V in it for a friend.
