I've been watching Monk again. Also going to start Diagnosis Murder again.

So.... just a quick question for you fellers... if you were me, would you cut the box to replace the blend door, or tear the whole dash apart? I have both doors.... but I think I'll use the cut in door no matter what. I like the metal stub on it better.
Ohhh... ive watched the video on a heater core replacement and the blend door short cut-
i think i would cut the the box, but try to make a better re-fit with the cut piece- the video i watched, the guy used duct tape to make the closure- i think i would make some kind of tab or flange to secure it. But that might be more time than what its worth- im hoping i dont have to find out!

I like that idea of making a flange to go around it. The kit comes with the tape in it.

Whitey....if you use FlexTape, you will never have to worry about that damn thing separating. I tried some of that stuff on a shed that had a rubber roof. Talk about holding. That sold me, that it held up to the 100mph winds with no sign of trying to separate. Gorilla tape, 40 mph at most.

Great tip, as usual!

Would you cut your box, or tear it apart?

Me personally, if I was just doing the blend door, I would do the easy route and seal the box back up afterwards. If I needed the core, then of course I'd pull it. Even though they say you can do it without, and there is a video, I'd still pull the core with the dash removed.
