What's up fellers? I don't know if any of you buy into this ghost crap, but this place is about a mile from me. They do make great pizza, LOL. I know who everyone is, but the 3 "local witches". I think it's all fake.... but, whatever.

Have to do the alternator on the escape this weekend. Of course it's on the back of the engine in the passenger wheel well since no one ever replaces an alternator. If I follow the manual I have to take the CV axle out to remove it. Some others have managed to fish the !@!@% thing behind the engine and up the firewall but might have to pull the intake manifold (again) to get the stupid bugger out.

Did the radiator on the 03 escape over Thanksgiving and the biggest problem I had was getting the hoses removed. Not a lot of room to release the lower clamps.

As soon as this damn rain stops, I'm going to take the white tonneau off the lil Red truck and repaint it to match the truck for the time being, until I decide on a color to do the truck. I still have a bit of work to do on the bed's fiberglass panels, by the steps in the rear, but other than the damage that the kid did on delivery, there isn't much else to do on him.

I finally took him on a highway run yesterday. I had him at 80 constant (and I was getting passed by over half of the cars/trucks) without any kind of mechanical problems. I was please with the high speed run.

I had a bit of an antifreeze smell, only to find a pin hole in the overflow tank. There was another tank in the wrecking yard, so $10 later and 15 minutes of my time, I was back up and functioning correctly. No other problems have come up and hopefully none with rear an ugly head. It seems that something got under the tank and rubbed a small hole in it. Whatever it was, wasn't there when the tank was exchanged. Probably a rock or something.

I think the OP has the steering gear box tightened a bit too much. I'm going to take a bit off the tightness and see how it road runs then. That is, when the freaking rain stops. This has been a real wet year for us here. Usually it sun shine thru July, but this year, it seems reversed. Rain in the entire first half, hopefully no rain in the second. lol We will see.

Nice when it runs right. On the plus side it will be another couple months till they complain about a historic drought in your area.

Sorry Aragorn, but we honestly don't get droughts where I live. I'm in Alaska, Anchorage to be exact. If it doesn't rain, then some of the snow on the mountains will melt. LOL. I can't think of a place in AK that has ever had a drought. Too much snow (Cordova and Valdez), flooding (almost everywhere in the spring), EARTHQUAKES, we have a few of those. I was actually downtown, at Howard's Chevron (the Standard Gas station in the picture) getting popcorn when the 64 earthquake hit here. We were going to the Denali theatre for the afternoon (Good Friday) matinee, when that hit.

The below picture is the Denali marquee after the quake. It used to be 12 feet higher, but after the quake, it was ground level. The theatre was fairly full when it hit. Luckily no one was killed there, as it went straight down, like a sinkhole. Five minute later, I would of been in that building also. That 14 story building in the back, (hard to make out thru the Empress sign in back of the Denali sign) cracked but never fell. The identical mate to it, also survived the quake, but many smaller buildings were totally obliterated. It was a surreal day. I'm still here, so a little e-quake doesn't bother me. lol

Speaking of Escapes, I am not envious of your alternator job Aragorn! That looks like a PITA job, and I need to do it on mine soon. My Escape took a trip up to Rawlings, WY on Sunday, and then we took it back up the canyon yesterday..... and, uh, yeah.... I'll be leaving that job to the F150 from now on. Granted, my Escape is only FWD - but I got it stuck in gravel TWICE. Makes me think I might get a Subaru for my DD instead of a Focus.

I took some pics though, although no justice to be found in the comparison of what it REALLY looks and smells like.

You needed the 4WD version! My wife's escape is damn near impossible to get stuck lol only thing I'd change is having the 4WD switch with auto/on instead of auto.... but the wife never has to worry about switching so it's good for her

Probably help too if I didn't have street BFG's on it too... LOL

That said... I was embarrassed when an Acura/Honda CAR went up further than I did. I did get stopped by a 9th gen F150 that was coming down the hill I was on, and it wouldn't get going after I got stopped. But about 50 yards in front of me, that Honda or Acura was already past the hill I got stuck on.

Too funny White. Getting beat by a Ho Ho Ho. lol

On a similar note. This weekend I was up in Sutton and was watching some guys bogging in the pits. It rained so much that they are soup. Anyways 2 4x4's got stuck and another didn't have enough power to pull them out and itself. It was funny. The guy from down the road went home and came back with an old 50's F100 with long bed and stepside. Really an ugly old beast but it had some big tires. He was 2wd. Everyone was laughing at the old guy and kept saying he couldn't do anything with the stuck trucks. He proved us ALL wrong. That damn thing walked right out there, the guys hooked the ****** straps to each side of his frame. He pulled the first Chev out like it was nothing. He went back for the Dodge, hooked up and pulled. The Dodge was buried. He unhooked, pulled out, opened his hood, did something and closed it. No one was really paying attention to what he was doing. Just thought he got water in the engine and was cooling i down.

Then it got funny. He said he was going to try again and for everyone to step back. This time he used his engine for power not the truck. Holy crap. The water was shooting up like a rooster tail on a hydroplane boat. That Dodge snapped out of that hole and it was all he could do to stop when the guy powered down. He almost ran over that guy. After everything got moved around and the two trucks got situated, we went over to check out this old 100. The old guy had a Mercury 410 Marauder motor in that thing. That old power plant was a monster. I haven't seen one of those since 1970. I was shocked to see another, but I knew exactly what engine family that was. (Different from an FE block, this is LM engine specifically and the last of those babies, what a shame).

What we found out after all was said and done was that he pulled the wire off the linkage, so the 4V could open up. He had it set to only run off the front 2 bbls. When that 4V kicked, the fun really started. Back in 66-67, that motor was a real Torque-Monster. Oh and I forgot. The secret beside the engine? He had 700# of flat sheet steel laying in the bed for weight and traction. It made that beast a tank.
