No doubt. Probably get sucked into the motor too because it would be so flimsy.

Do you have any saved links to a filter like that? I'll prob see if AFE has a dry flow filter for stock housings. I really like their products.

Brew, what's a HF nanofiber? I am assuming HF doesn't mean Harbor Freight here, LOL.
They are even better built now a days, - washable, reusable premium high flow air filters.
The air filter media is a synthetic nano-fiber material that traps the smallest dirt particles that ordinary cotton-gauze "performance" filters can’t capture. Have urethane body's that won’t crack, curl or shrink like others. I installed mine back in 08. I use an Amsoil, part # in my sig.

I can't see your sig in mobile. Any way you can throw that part number up?

Brew...went out to Amsoil site and they don't have a filter anymore, other than Wix for our years. EA191 is no longer a serviced number.

Yeh looks like they stopped making them a while back. JBrew is the only other person I know that owns one.

As a matter of fact, I think you and I talked about that before. I can share a little more on that. -User Galaxy (past Amsoil distributor on many IB automotive web sites) PM'ed me years ago, (quite a few) about Amsoil taking the "Amsoil EEA191 Filter" off market. If I recall, you purchased yours 6 years ago, - mine 8 years back. I never fully confirmed personally but it's gone. Like AK posted, Amsoil distributes the WIX now for these trucks. WIX products have been around for a very long time and have always been solid as well.

As far a nano fiber. I'll have to do some more research on that...to the point of discovering solid options for this gen. Currently/honestly I'm not sure why it would be difficult to find one for this gen. Roush makes one of the best advanced nano fiber elements at this time BUT! I haven't checked yet, so I don't know if it's possible or how much effort it would be to incorporate one into our intake set ups. May have to purchase a complete air intake system vs having a drop in filter option.

Well, that's all I know about at this point, don't have a good answer.. yet!

BTW- Jp,- I wouldn't attempt washing the Amsoil. They aren't caged and will most likely deform a bit. That's what I meant earlier when I mentioned nano fibers are better built today. Some are caged like the older oil filter elements are. They nano fibers look like oil rechargeable filter media because of that but they ARE NOT. Nano fiber is consistent high flow media because the media has low micron embodiment qualities. Dust particles attracted to said media fall from it after shut down...at least that's my experience. I haven't serviced the MAF or filter in years, - I've looked at it, that's about it. In the past I've attempted to shake it out or clean with governed, clean and dry compressed air. Nothing came from that or very little, to the point it's maintenance free. The housing will hold sand/dirt particles, but not enough that required any kind of spillway IMO.
Anyway, I don't travel wet gravel roads, I've been curious in the past how these filters would do traveling wet dirt roads. I can see that may cut down on the longevity of this media, -but have never tested or heard about it. I'll quit rambling , my coffees getting cold, Woe! cold alright lol.

Drillrig, since you'll be working with you intake housing and filter, measure or check to make sure you can run your factory sized element with it. Compare measurements to the chart below to see if Amsoil has a nano fiber to fit that box or our factory box.

AK - Perhaps you can compare your K&N drop in part number to the chart above. There's a cross for it.

We did talk about it Brew and Yeh we both have had ours for quite sometime. They definitely deform after getting wet as I found out trying to get out from the house after the water came up 3 too many feet in the flood last year. Got water in my intake and had to pull the filter and change the oil on a dry "hill" about the size of my truck before fording on through the next hole. After it dried out it has been just fine though.

However, I have had no problems before or after that. I do spend a lot of time on dirt and gravel roads in all types of weather and I have yet to find a reason to change it out.

The KN part number for our trucks is E-0945. I'm not seeing a cross reference on that chart. I also looked up that kit AK found and they come with KN filters.

When I got the piece from the junkyard I did however test fit a factory paper filter and it fit pretty well.
