I bought mine 2 years ago, and they DID protrude, both in depth and on the signal side. They were adjusted as far as they'd go inside, and are aimed right. Over that course of time, one LED per side is out. In SuperCrew4X$'s pics above, he has a bull bar that makes any protrusion non-noticeable. I have a '98 Lariat 4X2, which there is no readily available bull bar for, so I really can't hide the one-piece lights. 2 trains of thought here. 1) I bought mine when they first came out, and quite possibly the newer ones are of better construction and fitment (even though many posters do say that the projectors in the one-piece models throw less light then stock). 2) Go with the 2-piece Lightning-types (and some of these also come with a LED strip too). If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with choice 2.

I'm with Warspite on this one. I'm using the one piece projectors as well and have to admit that they do throw LESS light then the stock headlights and like others have mentioned they DO stick out a bit. The HID's might help with lighting but I can't really say as I haven't tried it myself yet (I'm lookin into doing an HID conversion right now). It's up to you on what you want to go with though.

Hey, Liftededdiebauer - In many posts, we've classified the ones you have as "lightning" style. The consensus here is that yours is the better aftermarket solution, with the exception of some that have a LED strip built in. I personally would not recommend HIDs for the Lightning style, since it's a single bulb (high and low), and unless you have the one that also has a dedicated and separate high beam, it will not warm up fast enough for when you need to flash that Bowtie driver in front of you to get out of the way!

They make Bi-xenon kits for these trucks to make HID high and low.

I have a 94 mustang and all the guys on the mustang forums hate on the one piece lights also. I decided having a clean one piece light was worth the effort to make fit properly. It might be a bit more work to adjust and to make fit perfect but IMO my one piece lights on my mustang are wayy better than any two piece out there. I'd say the same goes for our trucks. When I do headlights on my 2000 I will be looking at a one piece light.

Then doing a proper retrofit from the retro fit source for HID lights

Are those "instant on"? I put one of those Ebay specials in a Seville, low beam only, due to the warm up time.
