Default Theft Light Stays On

The flashing "Theft" light will not stop flashing when I lock the Truck.
I've tried scanning, nothing. Dis-connecting the Battery for days, no change.
Different keys, same issue. The manual basically says to take it to the Dealer.
It starts and runs fine. Any thoughts other than put electrical tape over the light?

Hi Tundra, I'm not getting your problem. You say that your theft light keeps flashing when you lock the truck. According to my owner's manual (1999) "The theft indicator on top of the instrument panel will operate as follows: • When the ignition is OFF, the theft indicator will flash briefly every 2 seconds to indicate the SecuriLock system is protecting your vehicle. • When the ignition is turned to ON or START, the theft indicator will light for 3 seconds and then go out." From what you have described, it sounds like normal operation to me. What year is your F150, in case your system is different from mine?

If the system starts correctly it's fine. The flashing theft light means the system is armed. Nothing more.

On my truck if PATS is activated the theft light flashes really fast. 3 or 4 times a second. As said, a slow flash is normal.

Someone needs to go read their owner's manual so they know how it is SUPPOSED to work.....

From the Shop manual:

"All elements of PATS must be functional before the engine is allowed to start. If any of the components are not working correctly, the engine will not start.

PATS uses a visual theft indicator. This indicator will prove out for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to Run or Start under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will either flash rapidly or glow steadily (for more than 3 seconds) when the ignition switch is turned to Run or Start. PATS also "blips" the theft indicator every 2 seconds at ignition off to act as a visual theft deterrent."

The OP posts the owners manual says nothing but run to dealer to solve the problem. Although he has no problems he seems to believe he does even after reading the owners manual.

@ProjectSHO89, could you take the time to point out what is incorrect in the responses about how it's SUPPOSE to work?
