I suspect that PCM remanufacturers do stuff to make PCM installation easier for the end-user. To replace a PCM using IDS at the stealer, the PCM is 1)Updated to the latest calibration, 2) A "parameter reset" must be performed which is just the PCM and Cluster meeting each other, 3) Key erase and program. Turning off PATS in the PCM allows you to bypass all that and drive off.

OK, was not sure if the light would flash if there were 2 chipped keys next to each other.
Kept meaning to go out to my truck with 2 keys to check.
