Thanks To You!
I've been lurking around here for about a year now,and would have registers sooner but I did'nt have anything to post....I'm a novice mechanic at best, started trying to fix my own stuff to justify the garage I built and my skill level is very low.
However, I've had my first real victory today and most of the credit goes to you guys!!!
My 1993 302 4x4 (which ran super) just went to hell overnight. Rough idle, backfires, missing, and no power....You name it.
So I cleaned the TB, checked the I.A.C., and the TB sensor, took out the Ho2 sensor (thought maybe the cat was clogged), checked for a vac hose leak, and FINALLY got down to the MAP sensor, and BINGO! That was it, that was all I replaced, (oh, I changed plugs to cuz' it was way over due) and its running great!! This all took about two weeks for me to do, I worked slowly (first do no harm! rule) but each step I used as a learning experiance and became more and more familar with where things were and how they fit into the whole scheme... I'd run into the house get on the computer to search here for an answear, back out to the garage to try this or that, over and over, but I did get it.....I rented a code reader from Oreilly's, and at first it would'nt even read anything, (pervious owner "modified" some of the wiring) but after fixing some obvious things all went well.
I would have NEVER even come close to a solution, but for this great site, so thak you all!...I've got a lot more to learn I know, but this really helped my confidance in a huge way.....Oh, and my girlfriend, who was laughing and shaking her head at me these last two weeks....Isn't laughing anymore!!!...
Thanks a million!!!

I think you might have posted this in the wrong section (97-03 models)...but I am glad this forum helped you out and saved the hassle and expense of taking you truck to the shop. I know I have learned a ton!
