Default Temperature, MPG, and Compass

I picked up an overhead console out of a 99 Navigator today. It has the compass and MPG display as expected for an Expy/Navigator OHC but when I took it apart to inspect the circuit board, I noticed that the display also has a temperature readout function. Now, I couldn't get it to go into that mode, but I figure since the display has the ability, can i make this computer show all three functions?

Thanks, Mike

Anything is possible. But I looked into and it would cost more than its worth. And it seems like a big headache.

Not to ignore your advice, but can you give me the information that you found? I mean, what all is involved? I feel comfortable with circuit boards and soldering, and even running additional wires. I can see that there are 20 pins on the connector on the back of the module, and that only 11 of them run in the jumper harness that actually connects to the OHC harness. I'm wondering if Ford used the same computer for different applications that also had the temp and just used different jumper harnesses between the computer and the OHC harness.

If you wouldn't mind elaborating on what you found, that would be great.

Thanks, Mike

Thanks for the link. I think it's going to be more than a wiring modification. I have narrowed down what some of the unused pins and their purpose. I only have 5 pins that I don't know what they could potentially be, however, i plugged an ambient temp sensor into the 5 that i have yet to figure out and still nothing. I think some modification to the circuit board may be in order.

Thanks again for your reply and I will def. be posting anything I find.

Any additional input that anyone may have is still welcome. I have found that none of the 5 unknown pins have a voltage reference coming out of them. This furthers my suspicion that some modification of the board is necessary
