Default Temperature control **** not working

The temperature control **** stopped working on my dash today. I have a 97 F150 4x4 Supercab Lariat. I can't get warm air, just cold. The **** turns back and forth but nothing happens. I guess I'm lucky it happened now and not January. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this?

Thanks,

Joe

I used to have a 99 and it did that. It is only a few dollars for a new **** at the dealership, they pull off.

The **** probably just stripped out, but if not its gonna be a whole new control motor. In the winter people break the motors quite often by just cranking the **** all the way one direction, and if the motor is stuck/ any ice at all it will break.

Summer tho its likely just a ****.

Thank you for the replies. I was able to solve the problem with your help. I took the temperature **** off and turned the shaft with pliers and still did not get a change. I took off the plastic dash molding by the transmission tunnel and saw a white plastic thing with a plug going into it. I pressed on the plug connection and suddenly I had heat!. I guess it was a bad connection. The **** works fine now and I have full control of the air temperature. I'm so glad it was something simple.
