Default tailgate

i had an accident and my tailgate was damaged beyond repair and i am having a hard time finding one. My truck is a 1997 flare back and i am wondering if the tailgate of a straight back 1997 - 2001 will fit on my truck any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If by flare back you mean stepside, then no, they won't. The stepside tailgates are the same as the supercrews. I have a '97 gate on my '02 supercrew. You might need different cable supports for it, depending on what year you get.

Try searching here. http://car-part.com Put in 2003 as the model year and it will show newer parts. Less chance of rust.

flare side and the super crews had the narrow tailgate, fleetside or "stright side" are wider.. and the same as on the f250 and f350 striaght and dually beds(from my knowledge)

^^^ What he said. You need to include crewcabs in your search and you should come across one pretty easy.

If not you could always get a new one...
