Default switching engines

I'm in the process of replacing my 2000 f150 4x4 xlt 4.6,w/97 4.6 crown vic,or merc,(not positive which)the salvage man says motors are interchangeable,w/transfer of intake, oil pan,and wiring harness.i've read that there are different flywheels (6 bolt, and 8 bolt),with the truck engines.both motors are winsor. Car motor is 6bolt,dont have truck motor out yet.is there reason for concern that the truck motor could be 8 bolt?also, are exhaust mans.the same?

I changed a 98 Windsor 8th digit a 6 which means its a Windsor and it was an 8 bolt flywheel. I was wanting to find a good lower mile motor but everything I found said it wasn't that I couldn't use a Romeo engine in place of a Windsor which could be true. I found a matching motor but it had 145,000 miles on it for $900. I put it in in its running good but I still believe a 4.6 Windsor Crown Vic motor would have worked with parts mentioned as an interchange. If this works start a thread cause the salvage yards are of no help as to what options will work. I found another forum correct a similar myth with 4.0 SOHC engines. Used and 08 Mustang 4.0 into a 04 Explorer and it worked perfect with 04 Explorer valve covers, thermostat housing, fuel rail and injectors. It fired up and didn't even trip the CEL! Runs great.
