Default Swapping seat belts

I assume the driver and passenger ones are the same. Anyone know for sure? Mine still works but is a bit lazy about retracting all the way. I keep tools in the passenger side and could use that one instead.

Sorry, but the left and right are different and mount opposite, so trying to use one on the opposite side is a problem. Take the belt out and clean the retractor and get the crap out of the cogs. This is why they don't retract correctly.

I was hoping someone knew before I tore the mess apart. Looks like the back panel needs to come off.

On a reg cab you just take the nut off the upper retractor to drop the belt. Then look around the retractor bottom and find the attachment bolt. You may have to pop the plastic cover off, to get to the bolt. I don't remember. I'm getting old, so the memory isn't what it used to me. Anyways, you remove the bolt and take out the mechanism to clean. Pretty easy really.

It's out and it has retracted all the way, no matter what I do it has gotten shorter and I can't pull the belt out any. Any ideas?

Well, I yanked on it every which way I can and it finally broke free. I discovered under the clear cover on the ratcheting gear a small broken piece of plastic. Gee I wonder if that's why I battled with it all this while?

Anyhoo I think the spring is weak, it all clean and no obstructions but it's powers of recoil is wimpy. Is the dealer the place for these, not seeing much online.

$200 for just the retractor? Ouch. I guess this project is abandoned at this point. I cleaned it with compressed air and got the small plastic piece out so it is better. Now like new but better. There isn't much availability online for them, maybe a liability?

Gonna have to hit up a salvage yard. That's what I'm gonna do. My retractor is fine, its the belt itself for me. My trucks previous life endured a previous owner who had some kind of tool belt on all the time and it cut/ wore out about 3/8 of inch of the belt, which causes havoc with the slits in the top hanger and the blade of the connector.
