As long as your 97 isn't made before 8-1-96 you can make the swap without a problem. If before that date, you would have to use an early edition cluster from pre-8-1-96. One guy did make his work, but had to modify his plug or something similar. After his mod, it worked.

There have been problems with PATS on some of the newer trucks that have tried the switch, but 97-98 should not be a problem. 99 and after can be a real pain to switch out without some being reflashed by the dealer. Some have had no problems. Luck of the draw?

This discussion has come up at least 3 times I know of recently. I'd say if you have a 98 or older truck, to try it. 99 and up, do so at your own risk. The PATS system can be the pits. lol JMO

I have a 97 v6 as well, and would love to have a cluster that includes the RPM's gauge. Let me know how this works out for you man.
