Is it even worth it on a 8' foam board?

I lay it diagonally on a 6'6" bed, put the back corner on the natural gas tank, and the opposite corner on the back corner, and lay a ratchet strap

If so, let's see what you guys are running...

I have seen:
-place towel (or pad) over tailgate, strap it down
-same as above, just diagonally
-bed rail clamped racks...lay the boards the long way on the rails that have pads

Watching endless summer 2 right now and seems everything has a roof rack
