You can typically run about about 8 pounds of boost from a supercharger or turbo on a non fordged shortblock as long as you have upgraded the fuel system and have a new tune as well. I would think the diff would hold up and the axles would be ok (31 spline) but am not sure about the transmission. You could probably find out the max torque and hp ratings for the transmission you have.

Installed roush kit on my truck in Nov. Runs great at 6-8 lbs. Roush says that stock drivetrain will handle it but shouldn't go over 8lbs without upgrading the tranny and probably the drive shaft....I got the small package and didn't have to change anything on the motor except the intake manifold. roush provides the tune also.

There are plenty of peeps on this forum that have forced induction on their trucks.

tranny hold up to about 425 somewhere in the and you can make up to 700 something on stock internals... it would be fine i would try to find an eaton off a lightning or HD

Superchargers bolt right up and turbos require fab work.
I run a Procharger at 12psi. Nice thing about a centi is that boost comes on later so less damage to the tranny. Your transmission will explode before the 9.75 differential does. Not sure what the truck puts out at the wheels, some where around 350 hp and 450 ft/lbs. It runs 14s and that is good enough for me.

I heard all the 5.4s between 97 and 2001 had a fordged crank. Not sure if the pistons are fordged and guessing the rods may not be.

99 would have been the last year and maybe some lest overs into the 2000 model year except for the Lightning. Not sure about the Navi 4 valve. The pistons in the N/A motors are not forged and none of the rods are.
