Studder and A Pudder
Alright I might be in the wrong place but I promise I have researched the heck out of this issue and nothing has been working. My truck 2003 F150 5.4L has been puddering and sputtering ONLY when I accelerate at random times. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all. Codes that have popped up was as follows:
1. Misfire #7- I replaced ALL the spark plugs and coil-it ran fine for 2-3 weeks and boom started to do it again. Code was cleared
2. I had the codes cleared and the light came on again. Misfire was gone and said Bank 2 O2 sensors-i bought and replaced all FOUR O2 sensors. Code was cleared
3. Had codes cleared and light returned...misfire on #8:/ could this be a wire issue or my coils going out one by one? Thanks in advance for any help.

Had that happen to me earlier this year, and it was worse in the cold. Mine was when i was below about 1800rpm and the outside temp was below 40. Mine was intake manifold gasket, so you might want to check into that. But theres a whole lot more it could be. I ended up replacing all my COPs, all my oxygen sensors, MAF, air filter, fuel filter, and IAC valve. Take it to the ford house or dealer, its about 70 bucks but its worth finally finding out.
TattedLariat-thats what I have been told and was guessing the intake manifold and that is what is next on my list. Did you have any wiring issues? And what would have made the misfire move from #7 (I replaced the coil on #7) to #8? Bad coil? Sparks are new, but didn't do the coil thou. Im not very great with names of parts, places, etc. I'm a visual learner. Can you suggest any websites or have any videos on how to get to and take the manifold off? Videos helped me with the coils, sparks, belt, and O2 sensors.
My misfire bounced all around. Even after replacing plugs and coils it did. and it also threw a random multiple misfire code. Um, i've got a link on my phone i think. I just googled it. And had a little bit of previous knowledge.
Basically its really easy. First you gotta take the dust cover, and air intake. and then coils and fuel rail. and then upper intake manifold and wahlah, you can pull the gaskets off. i paid 29.97 a side from the ford house. Took me about 10 hours, and i spent 60 something in parts. Only thing thats necessary is a torque wrench.

Awesome ill try it I have the book for it that can walk me thru it via words lol. I prefer video but its either try or pay $$$$$$. Youtube and this site has helped me this far. I had antifreeze in cylinder #7 and was wondering if there is a way to check to see or a trick to see if there is a crack in the manifold itself. I like to have all my parts and tools before I start a job. Gaskets are $38 at the local parts store for 2 of them and the manifold is $250. Thanks in advance for the pointers and help.
