Strange Starting Issue.
For a couple of weeks now I've been having an issue where my truck will not start. I have replaced the starter, added extensions to the battery cables, replaced the ignition relay on the firewall, and replaced the ignition switch under the steering column.
After all that, I couldn't get the truck to start so I pulled the new starter off and found that the solenoid on it didn't work. Got a second new starter, and installed it.
Now, the odd problem. The vehicle starts fine if it's just been sitting say overnight, or a few hours. However, when I drive it around for a while and turn the ignition off and then try to start it again it won't do anything. The ignition relay on the firewall doesn't even get engaged. Headlights, radio, instrument cluster, everything has power it simply won't start. If I let it sit for a while, it will start right up.
This is a 1999 F150, 4.2L. I'm hoping someone has some ideas because I'm running out of them.

Oh, it's an auto. Sorry I didn't mention that. I had been thinking the transmission range sensor/ neutral safety switch but if that were an issue wouldn't it be one all of the time instead of just when the vehicle was hot?
Honestly I hate to say it but I would get a new starter again it sounds like the solenoid isn't clicking but if the solenoid on the firewall isn't either then I would check the positive cable they tend to have the tendency to rust out

The starter was tested and retested before I brought it home. Besides, the ignition relay isn't clicking which means it isn't getting a start signal. If that isn't getting a signal, then the starter won't get power.
It's got to be something between the ignition and the ignition relay on the firewall. I guess I'll just pull the TRS off and see what I can see with that.
