Default Still have a vent problem.

So, I thought i had it fixed, but i dont. My switch to switch my vents from panel to defrost etc etc... wont switch. The fan is still blowing, i can turn it up and down, and hot to cold. but when it switches there is only a small amount of air coming from whichever vent i switched it to. the fan is still blowing full blast and sounds like its coming from under the passenger side of the dash. any ideas what needs to be replaced and/or fixed?

Vacuum operates the door actuator, if there is a leak in the system it will default to defroster. If that is where you are blowing air from, check for a broken line under the battery area. The fan speed is electrical and has no bearing on where the air blows out of. The temperature control is also electrical and also has no bearing on where the air blows from.

there is a small amount of air coming from each vent as i switch it. i remember you said the default is the defrost, but its not coming out of the defrost vents.

From what you said it sounds like it could be be the blend door (broken plastic axle). See the videos over at heater treater.com, he shows a procedure to check just for that.

In our 99 the defrost was turned on and the motor on full blast , but not much coming out the vent, sorta all show and no go!

Hearing that air is coming out all vents except defrost, then the idea that Ryano is mentioning could be the answer. Look into the other door for selecting the air position rather then the blend door, that one is for regulating the air temp, it blends air from the heater with that of the AC intake.
