Stereo install question
Hi all, I'm new here and just installed a new Kenwood deck to replace the factory head unit in my '03 Heritage S-cab. I bought a Scoshe plug ('97-'03 F150) and wired it up according to the schematics included with the new plug. Only problem was there is no wire for illumination on the factory plug, so I wired the illumination with the power from the accessory circuit. Stereo works fine, no problems with that, but I noticed afterward that my dash lights and running lights go on when the key is in the "accessory" and "run" position, also the dimmer switch does not dim anymore. Before I tear the stereo out again, has anyone had this problem and could it be the illumination wire? I am stumped because the 12V constant (yellow wire) is hooked up properly and the accessory (red wire) is also hooked up properly, I just tapped the illumination into that source. Only thing I can think is maybe there is power going through the ground wire possibly, but I soldered the connection and used a shrink sleeve over it. Any help would be appreciated!

Unwire your illumination wire. Most mid to low end Cd players dont use it. I never have.
