Default Steering wheel is stiff when turning

i have a 98 f150, and i just recently replaced the upper steering column bearings. (large and small one). now the steering wheel is stiff, when i go to turn and let go of the wheel it wont turn back straight like it did before without you having to turn it back to straight.

I checked to make sure the steering wheel is not to tight on the shaft. and i never worked on a column before.

Any ideas? The bearings come already packed with grease so i didn't grease them my self.

thanks.

If this only started after replacing column bearings, it's likely you've not installed them properly. I'd disconnect steering shaft from steering box and see if steering wheel moves freely. Careful not to stretch the wires for the clockspring.
