Steering wheel off kilter
#11
I certainly would 1st check tie rods. Look for shiny threads next to the outer tie rod sleeves. If you see anything there then probably need new tie rod(s). If they look ok then it is most likely between the steering wheel and the steering rack. With wheels on the ground the steering wheel should only move slightly left to right. Could be anything from the wheel mount to the rag joint to the steering rack.
FYI usually if a steering wheel is off center it can be corrected by adjusting both outer tie rods. Example being 3 turns in on driver side and 3 turns out on passenger side. That doesn't change alignment it only adjusts the steering wheel to center.

That would drive me bats4it nutty looking at that wheel.
Which splines... pitman arm or steering shaft? Did you remove the idler arm as well?
EDIT: I meant to say drag link... did you remove that from the truck as well?

Did you run over anything or hit a bad pothole? I'd check the tie rods....I've seen them get bent and do the same thing. If this happened all of a sudden it's most likely in the linkage. How about play in the steering wheel even on the ground....can you turn it back and forth before hitting resistance? It would be a rare case if your steering splines shifted, slipped or broke like that, however, there is an adjustment on steering boxes with a jam just and adjustment screw. These are just some things I would check.

The OP is long gone?
Probably found his trouble at the rag joint he had to beat the **** out of
There is no way for the steering wheel itself to do that, it has a big hexagon for splines and the older ones were D'd
