Default Steering shaft u-joint replacement

Hi All,

2000 F-150 7700, the steering shaft u-joint at the gearbox is loose. Anyone have any experience replacing one of these?

Thanks,
Dave

They're straight forward to replace. Remember to mark the orientation of the gearbox and steering wheel so the new shaft goes on the same as the old one came off.

Like add already said, they are not that complicated to replace. Just make sure the steering wheel is straight when you put the new one on

Default Easy

Thanks for the help everyone. Took out the old shaft no problem. Turned the steering wheel 1/4 turn to the right to line up the bolts for easy access and set the steering lock so the wheel was held fast. Then nothing moved and alignment was good for the new one. I pulled the air filter housing to help with removal but that wasn’t needed, the shaft telescoped together and came out the bottom. New one went in just as easily.
