I didn't see your post mixed in the middle Sorry.

The new cylinder has the key cut to fit already. Installing that will NOT start your truck. It will unlock the column, but the key itself, has to be programmed to fit your computer/PATS system and cluster. They all work together for antitheft. This is on all 99 up F150's and some earlier Gators and Expys.

A good locksmith can program your key to work with the system, but it isn't just throw in the cylinder and it will run. Hope that helps you.
