Default steering box help?

i have a 2002 f150 xlt supercrew 4.6 auto, the steering box had went bad so i got another and let a local garage put it in, when i got it back the steering wheel was upside down when the wheel is straight. he says the way it is set up it was the only way it could go on. then he tried saying if the new steering box was for a different body style it could be different as to the splines. i may be mistaken but i thought most 97-2003 f150s were typically the same other then different motors. he then said that it could be starightened up with an alignment. so i had aligned and no luck. couldnt get enough adjustment. any suggestions or remedies? any help is greatly appreciated

There is not a master spline on the gear box drive. The the steering shaft will go on in many different directions.

Somebody else here had that problem... Can't remember who it was... Red 97-03 though... Let me think...

Either way he installed the steering shaft in the box 180° out

Just like they said, undo it from the gearbox and rotate it and bolt it back on. It's the some gearbox in pretty much all fords not just 97-03 f150's
