Starting/Running Issue, Need Help!!!
Hey All,
Having an issue with my truck and need some guidance.
I just bought a 2000 F250 CC SuperDuty V-10. I have spent the last couple of days doing routine maintenance on it and ran into a problem.
Yesterday: Changed air filter and cleaned MAF. Started afterwards, ran fine. Changed fuel filter, started afterwards, ran fine.
This morning: was going to flush and change the oil. Took off filter, put cheap filter in place to catch the crud that might cut loose. Added the engine flush and started the engine. Engine started, then sputtered and died. Now engine turns but won't start. It tries but can't seem to keep going. If I let it sit for a bit, it will start again, but sputter and die immediately after that.
It sounds like a fuel delivery issue but I can't be sure. I checked all the fuses and and relays, they all seem to be good. Plugged in my scanner, no codes.
Normally when you turn the key you can hear the fuel pump pressurize, i don't know that I hear that, just a solenoid under the hood going "click click". Tried banging on the tank with a rubber mallet, nothing.
Also, when I changed the fuel filter last night I couldn't find the test port on the fuel rail to bleed the system pressure, so I pulled the fuse and let it die. Just now, I found the fuel test port, and with the key "on" I pressed the schrader valve in. It had a little force at first, but basically just dribbled.
Fuel pump?
Any ideas?
