Default starting problem.

I have a 2000 f150 4.2L V6. The truck will not start with the key. I have to turn the key on and jump the solenoid terminals with a screwdriver to start it. I have replaced the solenoid and the starter and have the same issue. Please help!

Sounds like your ignition switch. But I'm also not a mechanic

Yes, the ignition switch is under the steering column. The bolts for it are a star bolt if im not mistaken. You have to take the surrounding parts of the dash off (the ones around the steering wheel) to get to it

Manual trans, check clutch switch. Auto trans, check neutral safety switch.

No trans, replace the hand crank.
