Starter or Timing Chain?
Have you tried the easiest thing and attempted to jump the vehicle from a known good battery?
Very first thing you should check on a no crank symptom is the battery. Once you have completely ruled out the battery then you start looking at other things.
Just because the lights come on inside the cab does not mean the battery has enough power to turn over an engine. There is a big difference between the amount of amps a tiny light pulls, and the amount of amps it takes to turn over that engine.

So I got home this evening and tried to crank the truck. It actually turned over once like it had been, then the starter spun. So I turned it over again and it cranked. Ad a big puff of smoke came out of the exhaust. Looked white, but it was also dark except for the porch light.
