Default Sqeeking when turning

Like the title says, there is a sqeek everytime I turn the wheel coming from the front end... I went to tires plus and had them check it out and they want to replace the tie rods and ball joints. I feel like they are just trying to get money out of me because they estimated it to be $1400 fix. anyone have any idea what the sqeeking could be? Also the truck rides perfect and it turns perfectly fine except for the noise.
Thanks

I've got a similar squeek. People on here often say it's the ball joints. Here's what you should do:
1.) grease all the zerk fittings under the front of the truck, see what that does.
2.) if the squeeking is still happening get penetrating oil and start spraying one component at a time (left and right) then turning the wheel. By this method you should be able to isolate exactly which part is squeeking.
3.) replace said part
4.) have a beer
good luck

Did they look at the vehicle? A bad ball joint will squeak sometimes.
That quote is a good ball park for replacing those components.

If they looked at it and said they need to replace, they more than likely have play and that is why they recommended replacing them. These suspension parts are made to wear, and are supposed to be replaced when there is play.

If they didn't look at it and just suggested replacing the ball joints and tie rods to get rid of the squeak, yes they were trying to screw you.

You can get an upper an lower ball joint kit from ebay for $100.

and that is the entire upper control arms with ball joints installed. If you replace them yourself, take it immediately to an alignment shop for a new alignment.

It is actually not that hard to do it yourself. You just need to look at a few videos on youtube, have a BFH or a ball joint kit from ebay for $50, and a good set of jack stands and a floor jack. I know this because I am going to be doing the same thing for my truck within a month or so.

FIXED!

I went to autozone got a grease gun and I needle tip for it and I greased the boots of the pitman arm by pushing the needle underneath the seal of the boot and put grease in it. And now no more sqeeking!
Thank for the replies guys!

I missed how many miles your suspension has on it. On my old '99 I had balljoints replaced twice in 180K, first time was a little over 100K.

Your little grease trick may work for a while, but if the ball joints are worn out grease is not a fix.

Look in the owners manual and find the mileage recommendation for replacement.

The price quoted does not sound out of line.

Look on eBay for item 281064078629

Its $154.30 shipped and its all the stuff to replace the front end not including the frame!!

If you can figure out how to inject grease, you can change the front end yourself and either haul it an alignment shop or drive it to the closest one. And it still be a crapload under $1400 bucks... seriously!!!!!!

Are you sure it is all good quality though?? I do plan on changing ball joints myself when I need to.
