Default Speed sensor problem

Good morning all. I have a 1999 f 250 that has previously had the transmission replaced. I owned it for a couple months with no problem. Then the odometer started jumping all over the place and it seemed to shift erratically. At autozone it pulled the code for the output speed sensor so I bought one. The weather dropped to -5 so I had a local shop install it. They called and told me I had the wrong sensor and they would get the correct one and install it. Thay said the transmission was actually out of a 2001 and had a slightly different sensor. Ok that makes sense I guess. When I picked up the truck they said that the sensor didn't fix my odometer and they did not usually work on transmissions. So pay the bill and have a nice day. Ok wonderful. Now the odometer is completely dead. prior to them switching it out my odometer bounced around. It still shifts like crap or not when it should. Any advice would be much appreciated. I did get down and check out the wires and harness at the sensor and they seem fine. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bad shop. Get the sensor that came out of the truck, and match it up. On something like this, I would stick with an OEM part.

Sounds like you have harness issues. Speed sensor, along with electronic trans communication is all on the trans harness. If they used a different trans, maybe your pinout is wrong.
