Default Which Spark Plugs To Use..

Going to do plugs on 02 F150 with 4.6 engine. What are the best ones to use. Truck has 160k miles and I assume the plugs are original. Thanks.

I went to G-Power NGK Platinums OEM but guys here will try to make you spend more cash and buy NGK Iridium IX.

I have a 98 same engine you got and they work fine...the iridium are superior for durability but IMO no performance gains will be evident over G-Power.

And theres Motocraft which are fail-safe OEM.

STAY AWAY FROM E3's....i had them and it caused massive spark knocking/detonation

Its your call...

Just 3 for these trucks, - if your smart, you'll stick to this list, -

Denso Iridiums (my favorite)
NGK Iridiums (same spec)
Motorcraft (I believe they also have Iridium's for the 4six)

Don't stray, if your looking for consistent quality spark. These plugs aren't THAT much more of an investment. It's borderline foolish to run cheap plugs in these engines as performance can fade after just 10,000 miles. It's not that wear nessesarily, -it with the materials used (precious metals) which makes them just , good enough.

Don't pinch with plugs, no worry's for many many miles if you go with quality plugs. With out a doubt, it's the much wiser choice.

I dont have any issues with the G-Power I have.

Guy I work with has a 97 4.6 and he cheaped out even more 3 yearsish ago with Champions and he still has no issues. He here having a beer with me right now chuckling at Brewskie's comment.

Its ultimately your call...like I said, E3 are proven no good for our engines.

I would never put a copper champion in a ignition system designed for waste spark. Your friend is a rum dumb. Obviously has no idea how the ignition system in these trucks are designed and how they actually work.

Well that's just uneducated laughter. The beer helps with that for naught confidence.

Of course it's anybody's call along with what you choose to believe. With all the info out there, and good people who honestly research this stuff that decide to talk about it, - you do eventually learn something. Fighting to learn from such experience is only cutting into your ability to learn. So, that's you and your buddy drinking beer, laughing about cutting yourselves short. That's too bad.

Bud..show me a real actual and factual study and Ill beleive it...until then anything you say is just based on your beleifs and maybe bad experiance with any plug other than what you got luck with.

I don't know you and I don't need to be "educated" by a random guy on here...your advice is appreciated but your little ignorant comments you make on other peoples expense solely because they decide to go against what you say is for a lack of a better word..ignorant.

Newsflash Brewski..your not a "Ford F150 God" other people might have better ideas than you or know something you dont or better yet, had luck with something or have done something that didn't necessarily work for you but work for them.

Cheers!
