Single to dual exhaust
Hello forum. I brought my new to me 02 F-150 crewcab home this morning. The previous owner (a good friend) installed a K&N cold air intake but it's bone stock with only 72,000 miles otherwise.
I'm a hot rodder at heart and have been looking at a single to dual exhaust conversion. I see kits on eBay for around $200-$250.00 that have a single inlet muffler with a dual outlet and twin exhaust pipes. I'm most likely going to order one of these kits. I could care less about fuel mileage and the only towing I'll be doing is a small 14' aluminum fishing boat so again this upgrade is purely for a cool factor.
Other than installing the kit, will I have to do anything tuning wise? I don't want to install a kit of I have to have the computer flashed or reprogrammed. This truck is my daily driver and I don't want to go messing anything up.
Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the truck. Lets see some pics. I would take the 200-250 and spend it on a quality muffler to replace the stock one and be done. Something like a magnaflow 14". If you really need to see two pipes under your truck then go for it. Nothing needs to be re-programmed.

My entire setup with install was right at $264. It's a Flowmaster super 44 single in dual out. The tips are 4x18" slash cut that exit at the bumper corners. I have all cats still on and it sounds mean. Not too loud but not too quiet. I get a lot of compliments and it turns heads.

I would go with an upgrade single exhaust. Same sound without the duals. I would go with a single cat back system. My shop uses Hearththrob exclusively. Their high velocity series (HVS) mufflers sound great. They do sell kits through Jegs and maybe Summit. I would go there direct. Litchfield MN. No programming required for any exhaust behind the cats. The dual for the driverside will be near the rear brake hose and ABS wiring. Relocate accordingly. My truck currently has duals but if I could do it again. I wouldn't!
