Default Simple question, but darn

1998 F150- should be simple to pull the battery cables off right??

What size is the dang terminal bolt head???

Too small to be an 8mm - too big for a 7mm so I try standard ignition wrenches and it looks like I need a 19/64.... ain't got one so I try a 4" crescent and the terminal won't let it work...

So, I used some 4" vise grips, but that is not my preference...

8mm will usually work fine unless the PO has rolled off the edges with an adjustable. 5/16th is the actual correct size if memory serves.

Not sure which size is the spec either, but tcrote is correct. Either 8mm or 5/16" was the original - those two sizes are quite interchangeable though. My terminals had finally seen enough and gave up so I switched over to marine style.

Yep, just like everyone else said. -Original harness is 8mm or 5/16, either or, same size.

Sounds like yoiu might need a wrench in 32's, 11/32 maybe? Ahh that probably won't work since you tried ignition wrenches...9/32 ? lol. Well, just pick up some new ones, they sell at 3rd auto shops. Dorman product most likley in the battery bolts or metric bolt rack. I'd give yuh some if you were were closer, have a bunch covered in phosphate red and black from quick cable. Tinned cast copper battery post connectors as well. But yea, auto supplies all of them should have replacement bolts Tom.
