Default Silverstar vs. HID

Hey so my headlight bulbs are dimming and I was wondering how much better are HIDs than Silverstars? I currently have silverstar H3 bulbs in my offroad lights and to be honest I was not that impressed. I mean it made the light a little whiter but not much going on in terms of increased brightness.

Has anyone had experience comparing silverstar to HIDs? Or experience with either one vs. the stock set up?

My other concern with the HIDs is that they might make my truck look a little ricer. Is this the case only with some brands or what?

Theres nothing ricer about HIDs on trucks. My buddy has a set on his stock lights and the difference was night and day. Very crisp white with a touch of blue.

nice, I guess most of the ones I have seen are the purple and blue kind and they look pretty bad IMO, but ebxgsxr yours are looking pretty good. I am guessing it is possible to HID hi and lo beam..or is it better to keep the stock hi beam? So you are saying HIDs will blow a simple silverstar upgrade out of the water?

definitely blows silverstars out of the water. those bulbs are nice, but no where near the improve ment of HID. i was going to do the high beams too, but i didnt want to spend the extra money on something that i dont use that often.

are they so powerful that they would negate the usefulness of my offroad lights? I have two 55w pencil beams, two hella 500FF fog lights, and a 150w KC daylighter. If I got HIDs would they make them completely pointless?

well, kinda. i honsetly have yet to use my high beams since i put the HID's in. but with all the other lights, you could just aim them in certain angles that the HID's do not reach.

Not to be an ****, but you guys that are running hids are you running hid projectors that have a sharp beam cutoff? Hids aren't designed for regular headlight housings. I have very sensitive eyesight and i've had to pull over already when some **** behind me has hids in stock headlights and is spraying light everywhere. I put the mirror in night mode but even the reflection off my mirrors is enough that it distracts my driving. Not trying to be an **** but just be mindful of your other drivers.
