Default siezed engine

I drive (drove) a 1998 f-150 and failed to check the oil level regularly. One day I was driving and the engine seized up. I was wondering how much it would cost to get it unseized at a shop? I am just trying to see if its worth my money to get it fixed. Thanks

You'll have to get another engine.

Your engine could be fixed maybe, but it would probably be cheaper to get a remanufactured engine for it and install it. Most likely there is bearing and other damage to your engine that would require a major rebuild or it might be so badly damaged that it can't be rebuilt.

Yeah.... you don't really fix a seized engine. You rebuild it, if it is able to be rebuilt.

Worth it? Depends. It will cost around 6 grand to go rebuilt and have someone install it. Maybe even more if you have stuff replaced like hoses water pump stuff like that. While their in there stuff. If your truck is nice no rust the interior is clean I think it might be worth it. These trucks are 20 years old. None of them are going to sell for a whole lot more then 6 grand.

Without knowing which engine, the thread is useless. If it's a V8, a 4six, you can swap in a used 2010 engine cheap!
