Default Should I trade??

So I was recently offered a trade for my truck,. I've been wanting a diesel for a while, but want some opinions what you think.
My truck: 98 f150 4.6L XLT. Auto, 4x4, 165k. Flowmaster exhaust, edge evolution tuner, nice audio system.

His truck: 1993 f250 7.3L IDI international diesel XL. 5 spd, 4x4, 151k. 8" lift on 38s. Stock motor. He's asking 5000 for his, which I think is about what mine would be worth??

It all depends. If you prefer the non-turbo style diesels that is probably a great truck for you. they are easier to work cause they are straight forward and simple with million mile dependability, but they are typically sluggish compared to the turboed counterparts. They make aftermarket turbo kits for those IDI's but that is if you are willing to spend the money for them.

Don't want to shell out the money after trading my truck for it. I have driven a powerstroke turbo diesel and loved how hard it pulled but don't know about the non-turbo...never driven one before.

They are pretty bulletproof trucks.. if I were you I'd hit up bobkyle2 on here. He owns a non-turbo 7.3 and would be glad to tell you anything about it. That is a sick truck though. Kinda high mileage but not bad..

Your truck is prob around 5k.. maybe not as high with 165k, it's a 98 and the 4.6.. I'll ask bobkyle to hit you up and give you his input.

truck is sick... its a damn good trade.. if you can afford a diesel.. and the maintence.. that engine has atleast an 10 quart oil system... could even have a 12 or 15 quart... change the miles every 7 to 15k ... 20w50... oil filter is 12 bucks........ change the fuel filter 1 to 3 times a year at 30 dollar a pop... there not much performace mods... the 5speeds are the worth... its about 500 to a grand for a clutch and whywheel kit..

the goods. that motor will last over 400k if you take care of it.. you can add like 50 buy turning the fuel screw like 2 clicks...(and roll smoke) they sound like a meanass big block with a massive rattle.. when you first drive them you think they have no power... intill you start looking for power... you hook that bish on a house trailor..... and yank it outta the ground.. i had 36inch iroks on mine for awhile with no lift... and could smoke the tires without the brakes.. if you got the money to keep up the maintence and you want a diesel... i would go for it.. but only if you can work on your own stuff also..ive rebuilt mine from the ground up basically.. if you get it and want to know some more.. or if you just wanna know more pm me or ask here.. i got some good website about mods and what not...

i also have a banks sidewinder turbo ..new i might sell ya.. lol but i gave 3200 for it complete with 5inch exhaust and CAI ill post some pics of mine in a sec

be sure there is a drive shaft in it first... and check over the front end.. it looks to be a straight axel now.. be sure you know how to drive a long azz lifted truck also ..lol lock it in 4wd to be sure the front and rear gears are correct..

heres some of my truck do'n work!!

i could pull that 14x70... very easy.. these things are not a race truck.. they are very slow.. but have enough torque and weight to pull anything you can hook to them (mine is a automatic tho.. i didnt want a 5speed)

Thanks for all the help and advice bobkyle. And I can do whatever work the truck ends up throwing at me, so not worried about that. And yea it has been straight axle swapped. I actually bought a 95 powerstroke turbo diesel a few months ago just to flip it, but I drove it for a few weeks while I had it and have been kickin my *** since then for not keeping it and selling the f150 lol. And if itll roll smoke from cranking the fuel pin, that will be the first thing I do . Supposed to look at it tomorrow, if I get it I will definitely take you up on that offer for help and whatnot.

Cool truck but if its going to be your daily driver i wouldn't do it if i were you. It might seem cool for the first few weeks, but it'l probably just become a big pain in the *** to drive everyday. However if its not going to be your daily driver it would one badass mudbogger!
