Default Shocks

How do you know when your shocks are shot and need to be replaced? How long does a set usually last?

Usually inspect and possibly replace around 50,000 miles.

Well they CAN go longer but that is a good number for stockers...I used to bounce the car & see if it would damp right down or try to oscillate a bit to try & judge the shocks...not very scientific but on a high mileage car I could kinda get a feel.

Also look underneath at the shocks & see if any fluid leakage is visible down the body...you can't see anything for gas charged shocks to see if they are still charged though, so could still be bad..
