Shock height question
Ok I have decided to go with the daystar 1.5" leveling kit. I can't remember but I think someone said that I had to get taller shocks, is that true and if so how much taller do i need to go. I feel that is a stupid question because if i have to get taller shocks I would suspect I would have to get them 1.5" taller. But you know I feel that I have to ask lol.
X2... and correct me if I'm wrong but the kit you're lookin at is new keys? In my opinion these "indexed" torsion Keys are a waste of $$$ if you're only lookin for 1.5" of front lift... reason being if you think about the physics of the whole thing, the stock keys cranked are doing the same exact thing as the indexing on the aftermarket keys... the only difference is you can achieve more lift with these re-indexed keys which I wouldn't go more than what the factory keys'll getcha because the angle at which the IFS components have to operate at may cause more premature wear. You're "twisting" the torsion bar to turn the LCA down toward the ground, these new keys don't do anything different unless you have such a heavy bumper, winch, plow etc. that you can't achieve the amount of lift to get back to the factory operating angles or beyond, like where we sit with our factory keys cranked with no weight so they're not totally useless, but by then you should be putting on heavier duty t-bars. I think you should save your $ and lift that front end for free
Oh and my apologies for dumping on the keys, I got into an argument yesterday with a performance parts salesman in my area who was trying to sell me these saying crankin the factory ones puts extra stress on the front end and re-indexed keys don't... the only thing I like better about the keys is that when you crank the factory ones the adj bolt sits on a bigger angle against the key, as these aftermarket keys the bolt will sit closer to 90 degrees against the key, oh and the front end extra weight issue they're better in that app. too...
